			About Me
Hello, my name is Peter. I’ve been studying Japanese for over ten years. My interest in Japan began with my love for anime classics such as Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell. These works inspired me to explore the Japanese language and culture more deeply.
In 2020, I studied at Oxford Brookes University, where I completed a year abroad in Japan performing jazz across Tokyo. Alongside my passion for Japanese, I have a deep love for music and play several instruments, including the saxophone and traditional Japanese instruments such as the shakuhachi and shamisen.
Teaching Experience
I have taught jazz and music theory to both adults and children, incorporating rhythm and sound awareness into my teaching methods. Through music, my students develop a strong sense of rhythm, timing, and intonation — skills that also enhance pronunciation and fluency in language learning.
Lesson Approach
In my trial lessons, I focus on building a strong foundation in Japanese. We’ll cover essential elements such as Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji, along with key phrases, pronunciation practice, and structured exercises to support your progress. My lessons also include materials and methods used in university-level Japanese courses to ensure an engaging and effective learning experience.
Learning a language, much like music, is about rhythm, connection, and expression — and I look forward to helping you find your own flow in Japanese.
